Opportunities at CEC

CEC is launching a 4 (four) year project (1st June, 2023 - 31st May, 2027), supported by OAK Foundation under the Big Bets Portfolio through Big Bets Collaborative- a consortium of 7 organizations that have come together to build a robust environment for rural women entrepreneurs (RWEs) from Assam and West Bengal, engaged in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), by bringing collaborative actions in the areas of inclusion, clean energy, digital empowerment, value chain development, research, communication and networking with strategic ecosystem partners.

 

CEC’s program- “Building Sustainable Rural Women Entrepreneurs in Handloom Value Chain” is being implemented in Assam, with the objective to empower an estimated 1,000 Rural women entrepreneurs in Handloom Value Chain directly and about 7,000 indirectly, by:

  • Developing self-reliance and capacity to manage & run sustainable handloom business through tailored support initiatives at all levels, with enhanced access to adaptive innovations, digital solutions and financial linkages,
  • Building visibility of the RWEs by facilitating marketing and branding support through forward and backward linkages,
  • Enabling ecosystem for women entrepreneurs to thrive through active partnership with government as well as private institutions, based on models demonstrating growth and sustainability of RWEs.

 

Towards implementation of this Project, we invite applications from the interested candidates for the following positions:

I.  PROJECT ASSOCIATE: MIS, RESEARCH & DOCUMENTATION

Location: Delhi

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Maintaining and updating the MIS system on regular basis and generate MIS reports.
  2. Update Quarterly Dashboards in consultation with Project Manager.
  3. Develop, maintain and deliver progress reports, presentations with photographs, case studies, facts and figures. Document and maintain reports on all activities related to the project. Undertake analysis and develop brief reports of the research and other knowledge resources.
  4. Compilation of data, figures, and facts, in coordination with project team members, for reports and presentations.
  5. Undertake Research towards quality delivery of project outcomes.
  6. Develop collaterals and content for website & social media.
  7. Liaise with project team and third-party consultants, and assist in developing high quality knowledge resources (such as documents, e-books, films, podcasts, IEC material etc.).
  8. Develop and design stories and case studies in close consultation with Assistant Manager and Project Manager for Website/ Consumer Outreach/ Social-Media/ Project reviews/ Team meetings.
  9. Liaise with consultants for MIS systems functioning and maintenance.
  10. Liaise with consultants for in-depth project reviews.
  11. Facilitate in conceptualization and drafting proposals for leverage/ fund raising with respect to project deliverables.
  12. Assist in midterm and annual reporting under the project, in close consultation with project manager.
  13. Liaise with project team and third-party consultants on matters of project reporting.
  14. Assist in project management and operations in the absence of the Project Manager.
  15. Assist in developing full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  16. Assist in developing Request for Proposals, Memorandum of Understanding with resource persons/ consultants/ Government and Private Institutions.
  17. Assist project team in reporting, analyzing results, and troubleshooting problem areas.
  18. Assist in planning, revising and tracking project timelines, milestones and schedules using appropriate tools.

Required Qualities, Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Ambitious and hard-working professional with at least three years of experience in the areas of research, analysis, documentation and Management Information Systems (MIS) at a reputed organization.
  • Masters in Social Work/Management/Economics/Social Sciences.
  • Knowledge of Gender-Livelihood- Entrepreneurial issues, especially in Handloom sector.
  • Willingness to be based in Delhi, and travel occasionally to Assam.
  • Fluency in English is required. Candidates with knowledge of Assamese would be preferred.
  • Strong Computer Skills, especially excel, MIS software(s), word and power point presentation, with basic knowledge of design software like Canva.

The contract will be for one year, including six months of probation and will be subject to renewal based on mutual agreement.

II.  MASTER TRAINER

Location: Assam

No. of Post: 2

Salary: Remuneration is subject to qualifications and years of experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct pre-loom assessment in villages, followed by intensive handloom product development trainings with women.
  2. Organise meetings with Rural Women Entrepreneurs (RWEs) for training programs/ capacity building workshops and undertake relevant documentation, as required.
  3. Work closely and introduce to women evolving designs under the guidance of Design cum Marketing Facilitator, and undertake follow up sessions with respect to progress.
  4. Manage, supervise, encourage and promote rural women during course of training programs.
  5. Assist in Collective building process among rural women through the course of training program.
  6. Work in close consultation with the district officers towards baseline assessment, data collection and updating systems.
  7. Facilitate in yarn procurement, distribution, and managing yarn banks at village level.
  8. Guide Production supervisors and help in troubleshooting grassroot challenges.

Required Qualities, Competencies, and Qualifications:

  • Full technical knowledge of handloom weaving, including Jacquard.
  • Ambitious and hard-working professional with at least three years of experience as Master Trainer in Handloom Sector.
  • Minimum qualification 10+2.
  • Must be a certified as master trainer from reputed institution such as Assam textile institutions and other equally reputed organizations.
  • The candidate must have basic knowledge about the handloom sector, and good understanding of gender & livelihood issues in general. 
  • Willingness to be based in Assam and travel extensively within the state.
  • The candidate must have good knowledge of Assamese, and working knowledge of written English.
  • The candidate must have basic computer skills such as Excel and Word.

The initial contract will be for one year, including six months of probation and will be subject to renewal based on mutual agreement.

III. PRODUCTION SUPERVISORS

Location: Assam

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in organizing Product development trainings/ capacity building workshops, and maintaining relevant documentation.
  2. Liaise with women and in villages after Product development trainings to ensure continuity of production.
  3. Liaise with women, families and community leaders after capacity building workshops, and undertake follow up sessions with respect to progress.
  4. Motivate and encourage women to take their Collectives and business ahead.
  5. Assist in identifying and strengthening potential leaders and help in collectivization process.
  6. Provide handholding support to women for production enhancement.
  7. Facilitate in ensuring quality, standardization, finishing and packaging of production at village level.
  8. Introduce and teach women the upgraded product designs in close consultation with the Design cum Marketing facilitator.
  9. Assist women in overall participation in exhibitions and fairs.

Required Qualities, Competencies, and Qualifications:

  • Expert Handloom weaver, having knowledge of all process related technicalities.
  • Ambitious and hard-working professional with at least one year of experience in managing production at village level.
  • Minimum qualification 10+2.
  • Willingness to be based in Assam and travel extensively within the state as well outside the state.
  • The candidate must have good knowledge of Assamese and working knowledge of English.
  • Basic computer skills such as Excel and Word would be desirable.
