Representatives of trade unions who met here on Tuesday have given a call to workers - both in organised and unorganised sectors, employees of public sector undertakings and members of the public to participate in large numbers in the September 2 all India general strike and make it a success. At the INTUC office, representatives of the union, CITU, AITUC, LPF, MLF, HMS and AICCTU met to discuss ways and means to mobilise workers for the strike. They also reiterated their 12 demands and urged the Central Government to consider those, said C. Thangavel, district secretary, AITUC. He said that the workers wanted the government to control price rise, stop selling shares of public sector undertakings or the undertakings to private companies, stop amending labour acts so as to annul hard-fought rights, increase minimum wages among others.
