TNSCB, labour department hold registration drive

The Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) and the labour department held a registration drive for domestic workers and manual labourers in Ezhil Nagar, Okkiyam Thoraipakkam on Wednesday. A total of 766 families, who were resettled in the locality post floods, had filled the application. As many as 335 people attended the camp and got themselves registered in the respective grades and 25 were offered identity cards from the Labour Department. "We are trying to enrol as many workers as possible. Once they are registered, they will be able to avail various welfare schemes," said a senior official from TNSCB. The Departments will be conducting another camp in Perumbakkam on August 24.
