The United Forum of Bank Unions has proposed a nationwide strike Friday. The bank strike, in which more than 10 lakh employees of public sector banks would be participating, is being carried out against the proposal to privatise public sector banks. Implementing recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance with regard to the recovery of non-performing assets, withdrawing Banks Board Bureau and dropping of plans to merger public sector banks in the name of consolidation are the other issues. The demonstration will be held in front of Valluvarkottam.
