Horizon With Labour
The petitioner alleged prevalence of bonded labour in stone quarries in several districts of Andhra Pradesh. The Court directed on 25 January 1988 the DM, Hyderabad and a representative of AWARE, to submit a report after jointly visiting the site. The Court directed on 19 August 1983 the State of AP to file an affidavit indicating the number of bonded labourers identified and released in different districts of the State since 01/01/1983, whether they have been rehabilitated, the manner of rehabilitation and follow up action. The Court directed the State Government to set up Vigilance Committees in all districts and sub divisions of the State and include social activists and a representative of AWARE as members thereof.
