Professional Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in conducting empirical research, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, developing papers (academic and non-academic) and peer reviewed publications is deemed essential. The candidate should have a good understanding of global value chains, platform work, changing world of work, just transition, labour laws, labour movement, and decent work.
  •  Prior experience in leading research projects concerning just transition, climate change, and labour relations in global value chains will be preferred.

Essential Attributes

  1. The candidate must have excellent communication & networking skills, and should be eager to take the initiative to establish contact and take interviews of various stakeholders, especially business associations, entrepreneurs, chambers of commerce, government institutions & departments, research institutes, industry experts, trade unions, workers, & civil society activists.
  2. Experience in research and policy advocacy (preferably related to climate change impact/ labour relations/green jobs)
  3. Experience in working with various stakeholders (e.g. community, civil society organisations, researcher, industry bodies, trade unions, government) at local, regional, national level.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi
  5. The candidate should be eager to do both desk and field research
  6. Willingness to travel widely

Desirable attributes:

  1. Experience in conducting literature review, secondary and primary data collection on social, economic, environmental parameters, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, documentation, technical report writing, writing papers/ articles for peer reviewed publication and presentation at local, national and international forums
  2. Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems, IT-know-how (MS-Office including MS-Excel), MIS.
  3. Ability for independent thinking and taking initiatives/ lead
  4. Professional attitude and ability to function effectively as a team member, supervising junior researchers/ interns

Job Description:

  1. Leading/ contributing to research studies on just transition, challenges of digitisation, changing world of work, labour standards.
  2. Developing research and evaluation framework, data collection framework and strategy, data analysis and interpretation, writing technical report, policy/ issue brief/ blog article/ newsletter article/ peer reviewed journal paper/ book chapter
  3. Supervising and monitoring junior researchers/ interns
  4. Working closely and networking with local/ national/ international stakeholders, partners at different levels

Remuneration

Rs. 50,000-55,000 per month, depending on years of experience and other qualifications.

Qualification:

  • Masters/M.Phil/Ph.D in Development Studies/Labour Economics/ Public Policy/any other related discipline.
  • Sound knowledge about Global Value Chains, Just Transition, Labour Laws, Labour Movement, Decent Work.
