Honda

On The 'Wings' of Evil


The fateful day, July 25, 2005 saw nearly 2,000 HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (Pvt) Ltd.) workers savage assault of the Haryana police in Gurgoan. The brutal men in Khaki attacked on the agitated but peacefully sitting workers. Hundreds of workers were cornered by the police from all sides near the Mini Secretariat in an area that was walled in, with few routes of escape, here they were thrashed like a pulp with lathis. The ghastly incident called for the urgent need to initiate an immediate and independent enquiry..

Tea Plantation of West Bengal in Crisis


A report of the joint Fact Finding exercise carried out by CEC and United Trade Union Congress (UTUC). The report explores the intensity of the crisis and its manifestations in the plantations of West Bengal, looking at the problem from the perspective of the workers. Tehri

Accident Investigation: Tehri Dam

A Fact Finding Team Report on the Tehri Hydro-power Dam tragedy that claimed the life of 29 workers. The team investigated workers safety measures and quality of monitoring by the central government agency. Centre for Education and Communication (CEC) initiated a fact-finding mission in association with Uttaranchal State trade union members of CITU, HMS and AITUC to congregate important information about the accident and other labour issues.
