Centre for Education and Communication (CEC) is a labour resource centre. Its purpose is to enhance the dignity and power of labour. We do this through conducting collaborative research and campaigning, and by providing support for development of key concepts, ideas and policies that contribute to the enhancement of the dignity of labour.
CEC has abided, since its foundation in 1983, by its search for and promotion of creative ways of organising workers.
CEC believes that the current forms of global trade have widened inequality among people and nations. In India, the processes of liberalisation and globalisation have been a boom for a select few, but for the majority these have come with untold miseries and different forms of class, caste and gender oppression. CEC considers that the poor in India are mostly those who work, yet are denied a decent life; they are the excluded, the exploited, and the marginalised –
dalits, adivasis, women, and small and marginal farmers in commodity production.
