The year 2008heralded the silver jubilee year for the Centre for Education and Communication as it completed 25 years of excellent service in the field of unorganized labour. CEC was registered in 1983 under the Societies Registration Act, 1886, by a group of radical activist intellectuals as a centre for workers’ education in Delhi. Since its inception, CEC has actively been supporting organizations and people’s movements to enhance the dignity and power of labour from a right-based approach. In 1994, CEC started functioning as a ‘Labour Resource Centre’ with a focus on labour research, campaign, advocacy and networking.
At this very significant juncture, it istime to introspect the past, respond to the present-day challenges and strengthen our future perspective.
