Centre for Education and Communication (CEC) invites applications for the positions of Project officer – MIS and Research, for its work in UP, Rajasthan and Tripura to maintain the Management Information System (MIS) that collect, process, store and disseminate data in the form of information, and provide support in research and documentation that are required for the effective implementation of the EU-funded project, ‘Empowering CSOs for Decent work and Green bricks in India’s brick kilns’.
Background: Centre for Education and Communication (CEC) is implementing a project, ‘Empowering CSOs for Decent work and Green bricks in India’s brick kilns’ in collaboration with Prayas, Rajasthan and terre des homes, Germany. The project is funded by European Union (EU) under its Civil Society Organisations in Development: Capacity Development and Promotion of Diversity for Inclusive, Sustainable Growth in India Call.
Project is for 48 months beginning January 2016.
A management information system (MIS) is a system that provides information needed to manage programme effectively. Management information systems involve three primary resources: technology, information, and people. Management information systems are regarded to be a subset of the overall internal controls procedures. In line with this, the key responsibilities of the MIS officer will be, but not limited to, the following:
Participate in MIS-related meetings, conference calls, etc.; reviews hard copy and electronic recorded information; and communicates with staff to stay abreast of and contribute to MIS developments, requirements and capabilities, and applications.
Provide necessary support in conducting different research studies through collecting and analyzing data and information and documenting them in the form of reports. Updates management and staff as required.
Work directly with TdH and other partners in a coordinated manner to maintain the MIS information system relative to its accuracy, completeness and timeliness. Keep the Project Manager and Project Director fully advised of all findings.
Abides by, support and promote the confidentiality relative to program participant information. Recommends steps for correcting, improving and/or sustaining quality of MIS procedures, records and/or reports, performs all other duties, as required. Attends workshops and provides instructions on data entry programmatic requirements and procedures.
Update and maintain the current CEC website in its entirety, including creating pages, converting and uploading all files to the website, and updating webpage information approved by the Project Director and/or Project Manager.
Successful candidates will have good knowledge of the brick kiln sector, ethical business and livelihoods, along with excellent facilitation, consultation, communication, programme management and administration skills. Oral and written fluency in English and Hindi are necessary. Knowledge of Bengali will be an added advantage.

• 3-5 years experience preferably in similar role
Graduate or higher in computer science/ Social science with relevant and appropriate computer skills.
